The tale of a meticulous serving girl whose impetuous princess is determined to travel alone to her lover. The servant dresses as a samurai to discourage robbers. Confronted on the road the servant asks the robber for time to deliver her master safe to the village and then return to battle in the morning. The servant then seeks out a sensei to learn how to hold the weapon properly and thereby not embarrass herself while dying. When the servant encounters the robber again, her calm while facing death frightens him and he yields. He is made to renounce thieving and the tea servant returns to her court life briefly before setting out into the world and marrying the reformed robber, whom she discovers is now a peaceful and honest tea farmer.
