Synopsis

Christy Buchholz as Ishmael in the Coop Theatre Company production at The Black Box Theatre (Los Angeles, CA; photo by Alex Moy).

Herman Melville’s epic adventure about Captain Ahab's pursuit of Moby Dick, a great white whale, is widely considered the greatest American novel, and the opening line, "Call me Ishmael," one of the most recognizable in Western literature. This high-speed not-quite-a-musical doesn’t even manage the opening line (“Call me Ish - for short”) before it veers off into a warped, wacky diatribe on whaling, revenge and high seas hijinks with a splashy finale that will have you screaming, "Thar she blows!"
