Read on for information on Ordering a Perusal Script, Licensing a Play for Production, Competing with a Play in Forensics or Using a Play in the Classroom and How the Cart Works.
Ordering a Perusal Script
Order a Digital Perusal Script or (if available) a Printed Script (or both). Select at least one contract (theatrical or forensics) to be emailed to you and input the date of your possible production (if you're considering the play for production), even if you're not sure you'll choose the play. Digital files may be printed once, and neither they nor printed scripts may be copied. Note: the only scripts that may be copied are the digital scripts that come as part of a Photocopy License. A photocopy license may not be ordered without ordering Performance Rights. Libraries and bookstores, please contact us first by email at info@youthplays.com for a preferred rate on printed scripts.
Licensing a Play for Production
1. Select the number of performances and the date of the first performance (take your best guess). Each time the play is performed in whole or in part in front of an audience beyond the cast and crew equals one performance. It does not matter whether admission is charged. Be sure to select the theatrical production contract.
2. Order scripts. Select a Photocopy License and/or Printed Scripts. With a Photocopy License, you receive a digital script and permission to copy it for your production. If you order Printed Scripts only, you must order enough copies for your cast and crew. If you order both, then order as many Printed Scripts as you like. You do not need to order a Digital Perusal Script if you're ordering a Photocopy License.
Competing with a Play in Forensics
Select either the Forensics License or purchase sufficient Printed Scripts (if available) for each participant. Be sure to select the forensics contract. Forensics applies only to adjudicated competitive performances of plays/excerpts 10 minutes or shorter (no costumes or props), not theatrical productions. You do not need to order a Digital Perusal Script if you're ordering a Forensics License.
Using a Play in the Classroom
1. If the entire class is reading it, purchase sufficient Printed Scripts (if available) for your entire class, or you may order one Performance Royalty and a Photocopy License. For the performance date, you may use today's date, and please select the Theatrical Production Contract. You will have the opportunity to tell us that it's for classroom use only in the Note to YouthPLAYS box.
2. If it's just for a small group, purchase sufficient digital or printed copies for each person and tell us it's for small group classroom use in the Note to YouthPLAYS box (or via email).
Checkout, Payment and Your Shopping Cart
Once you are ready for checkout, simply follow the checkout icons and, after reading and agreeing to the Copyright Statement, select your payment method. Choosing either Google Wallet or PayPal allows you to pay with any major credit/debit card. Institutions within the US may select purchase order. Any of these three options allows your order to be reviewed by YouthPLAYS' staff and processed as soon as possible. A fourth option is to pay by check (US dollars only), but check orders will only process after payment is received.
Important Note about Your Shopping Cart: If you pay by credit/debit card, your shopping cart will automatically empty once your payment is approved by Google or PayPal. This can occasionally take up to 20 minutes, so if you return to the YouthPLAYS site after making your payment, have no fear if your shopping cart is still populated with the items you just purchased. It will clear once your payment does, and if there is a problem with your card, we will contact you. Selecting purchase order or check payment will clear your shopping cart immediately. If you hit the back button after being sent to Google or PayPal for credit/debit card payment processing, your order will "process" again, and you'll get another email that your order is pending. But you will only be charged when you actually complete your transaction with Google or PayPal.
